日本醜陋晉級 國際足總：只是特例無須改規則
日本在本屆世界盃分組賽最終戰雖然0比1落後波蘭，但比賽最後10分鐘仍選擇消極進攻，並靠著哥倫比亞以1比0擊敗塞內加爾，日本如願晉級16強，但也被各界說成最醜陋的晉級，這也是世界盃史上首次有球隊靠著公平競賽積分取得晉級資格。
根據國際足總規定，當分組賽有球隊積分相同，且淨勝球和進球數也都相同，就得以公平競賽積分來分高下，也就是比雙方的黃、紅牌數，日本就是靠著比塞內加爾少拿2張黃牌，才順利晉級16強。
面對各界批評聲浪，國際足總也做出回應：「目前規則沒打算改變，這是個意外情況，一般來說靠著前幾項就可分出高下，公平競賽積分只是用來輔助，畢竟用抽籤決定晉級也不公平。」（體育中心／綜合報導）
